| Why does the live streaming constantly buffer or skip?
There are a number of reasons why a stream will constantly buffer or skip:
- High speed internet, like cable or DSL, is more likely to have less video interruptions than slower connections. Dial-up is not equipped to handle most webcasts.
- Your graphics card will have a lot to do with the video quality your computer receives.
- If your computer runs a little slow to begin with which could be any number of factors (i.e. amount of memory, type of processor, personal settings), this will affect how our video runs on your computer.
Why do I hear the sound clearly but the video is either coming in like a slideshow or completely still?
Again, the answers given in the previous question will determine the speed at which your computer can handle the TAK LIVE WEBCAST. You can hear the audio with minimal or no trouble because it doesn’t require a lot of work from your computer.
Why is the screen so small?
We stream at 29fps with a resolution of 320x240. This is a standard size for many webcasts. With prayer and donations, we hope to advance our technology to something more convenient for our viewers in the future.
Can I enlarge the screen?
Yes, you can enlarge the screen to the maximum size your video program will allow. While each program is different (RealPlayer, Windows Media Player, etc.) most will allow you to right click the screen and either choose “Zoom In” or it will give you percentage options to change. KEEP IN MIND, WHEN YOU ENLARGE A SCREEN BIGGER THAN ITS ORIGINAL SIZE, YOU WILL GET PIXELLATION.
Why is the audio so low?
While we are new to the streaming process and are constantly working out the best audio levels on our end, there are a few steps you can take to ensure you get the most sound out of our webcast.
- Check all of your audio levels – both in your media player and in your computer
- Media player audio levels are generally at the bottom of the player’s screen and will have an audio slider which you can adjust.
- Computer audio levels vary from laptop to desktop. A laptop generally has built-in speakers and will usually have a sound icon on the bottom right hand corner of your computer screen. Right click on this icon
. Choose Properties (or sometimes referred to as Volume Mixer) and adjust all of your levels to higher positions until you are satisfied.
- Desktop computers run about the same as laptops with the exception that they need either speakers or headphones to hear the audio. Adjust the speaker levels accordingly.
*If you are still having trouble and are using internal speakers, external speakers may help to boost your sound.
I can view other websites’ LIVE streaming without the problems I have with your site. Why is that?
We are so blessed to have the technology we have right now even though it is not as advanced as some other websites. Continued prayer and financial support will enable us to grow with the ever-changing technologies so that we may spread Yeshua’s love to the ends of the earth! Please be patient while we are in our beginning stages.
Is there any way to reduce the buffering on the archived videos?
DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. TAK is NOT responsible for any downloads you decide to put onto your computer:
If your computer cannot handle the archives, you can download RealPlayer at www.realplayer.com and set it as your default media player. This player gives you the option of recording any video you are viewing. Once the video has completely downloaded onto your computer, it should eliminate the buffering because it has become part of your system rather than working off an internet connection.
I want to fast forward the archived video but it keeps buffering. Is there any way to eliminate this?
See previous answer.
I would like to be updated on special events which may be streaming live. How can I do this?
Please send an e-mail to lisa@tak.org if you would like to receive updates or general news regarding the TAK WEBCAST.
I still have questions. Is there somewhere else I can go for answers?
Yes. Our streaming hosts at Abacast, Inc. have a great team of technical assistants who will be happy to answer any additional questions you have via e-mail. Visit support.abacast.com to view their support page for answers we may have missed or to send an e-mail to their technical assistants.
